Our New House!

For those that are interested, this is our new house! We closed on November 12th, 2009. It has three bedrooms, a bonus room, 2 full baths and a half bath, a dinning room, and 2 car garage. So far the things we like most about having a house are having our own mailbox, not driving over speedbumbs, no creeping from the neighbor upstairs, our own garbage can, a garage and the list goes on. The only negative thing about a house is being in charge of all the repairs. See the photos page for more pictures.

In the world of hyper-partisanship it is hard to find a good balance of news and commentary from the left and right. For the last couple of months I have enjoyed realclearpolitics.com. Everyday I read articles from people like Former President Bill Clinton, Jessie Jackson, Thomas Friedman, George Will, Dick Morris, etc.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has launched a YouTube channel called Mormon Messages. It will feature short video clips about the Church’s basic beliefs & uplifting stories from Apostles and other Church members.

High school math students have found a new friend on the internet!

Wolfram Alpha is a knowledge “search engine,” which handles numerical queries quite well. For example if you type cos(2x) + sin (x) you receive a good amount of helpful information information including the roots to the equation cos(2x) + sin (x) = 0, derivative, integral and more information.

At the same time if you type “best cell phone deals” you receive the error message that the site “isn’t sure what to do with your input.”

For students who are taking high school (or even college) trigonometry or calculus this is a web version of Mathematica--a very expensive math program used at college computer labs.

It isn’t just for math and science geeks. Try typing in your first name and you will get all kinds of facts about your name.
